Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Her first Broadway roles, she played her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In You Can't Take It With You, she won the Tony Award as Best Featured actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited-edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford's upcoming project is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford will return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The group behind Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the leading the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the country's First Impeachment Proceedings in Over a Century. Her two-season stint on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant part. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has appeared in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for a Tony Award. Ashford is a native of Denver. She was born and brought up in Denver, now spends time between Los Angeles and New York.
