Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family relocated to Louisiana in the age of 9. Decker then won a local talent contest for a performance of "I Would Like to Be the Sweetheart of a Cowboy" performed by Patsy Montana. Decker was able to move to Georgia around the age of fifteen. Once she began writing frequently, she travelled to Nashville as well as visited music studios and record labels with the hopes of finding a contract. Her songs were being offered to record labels and other artists through an agent from Big Yellow Dog Records agent at the age of 17. The demos of Decker were listened to by Mercury Records president David Massey and then passed to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group-affiliated labels group L.A. Reid was able to agree Decker to an agreement. Jessie James, her moniker for the album she released with that title on August 9, 2009 was her own self-titled. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a number one hit within the Top 40 Singles Charts was somewhat successful. Decker was a country singer who believed herself to be a traditional country musician in the past, was shocked to discover that the album wasn't promoted and produced with a focus on a mainstream audience. The music of Decker came under more attention after the launch in the form of two hits. The second single, Boys in the Summer featured a rural feel. Decker's album was titled Daughter of a Gypsy (or Sweet American Dreams), was canceled by Mercury following two singles that failed to chart on the country charts.
